Easy Steps For Spray Tan Application

By Susan Jumonville

Many people spend a lot to time and money into achieving a flawless tan that they can flaunt around mostly in the summer months when shorts and small tops are popular. A simple, no hassle way that a glowing tan can be achieved rather than spending a bunch on time in the blazing sun is getting a spray tan. These are some simple spray tan application steps that you can do to get the tan you want.

The best way to ensure an even tan without streaks is to bathe and exfoliate the skin to make sure that there are no dead skin cells left behind. Making extra care to remove the dry skin around the areas where there tends to be more dry, rough skin such as the knee, ankle, and elbow areas. Use a shower puff or a washcloth to cleanse the skin and completely dry off your whole body before applying the spray tan solution.

Reading the directions on the tanning product will ensure the best results and is very important. To safe guard your health it is greatly recommended that you check a small portion of your skin first to see if you have any allergic reaction to the product. After checking the portion of skin and all is well, you then can go ahead and apply the product on the rest of your body.

It is strongly suggested that you use some protection for your hands while applying the tanning mixture to the rest of your body. The result of not using some form of protection like gloves, your hands will turn a orange color that is not very appealing and you will want to avoid this. After spreading the mixture to the rest of your body, even if you did wear protection you should still wash your hands.

The best way to avoid streaking in your tan is to apply the mixture evenly by using steady, smooth strokes. Try to avoid using excessive amounts of solution, especially in the elbow, knee, and ankle areas where the skin tends to be more dry and rough, which the solution will not absorb into the skin very well causing discolor. It is a good idea to go ahead and exfoliate these areas later after the solution has dried for a more natural look.

It is suggested that you wait to get dressed until the product has a chance to dry completely to keep from staining your clothes. Each brand is different but is mostly the length of 10 to 15 minutes. Some brands of self tanner suggests not to bathe or wash until a period of 24 hours have past for the best tanning results.

A way to make you beautiful tan last a little longer is to spread on a moisturizer to keep the skin soft and supple. The best type to use is one that works specifically with self tanners. It is best to use the moisturizer every day for at least 7 days so your tan will not fade away sooner.

Making the decision to use a spray tanner in the place of spending time out in the harsh sun is one that you will not regret. The result will be a more even tan that will last longer and is more healthy for the body than the harmful sun rays. You can now step out into the world knowing that you have a great tan and feel more confident.
