The Health Benefits of Sunflower Oil

Many people have this idea that sunflower oil is automatically bad for you and that it is unhealthy. There may be cases where that is so such as when frying oil is reused or has been obtained from unsavoury cooking oil companies. The truth is that the right kind of cooking oil can be beneficial to your health and is not as detrimental as people may think. How can I say that, you ask? Let me explain it in more detail.
Sunflower oil is one of the most widely consumed cooking oil in the world. While there are some cooking oil manufacturers that just develop oil for quick sales, there are also those manufacturers who take great care during the manufacturing process. They choose the best sunflower seeds and filter the bad ones out of the batch. They use the best machinery to draw the oil out of the sunflower seed. They ensure that the refined sunflower oil is clean and a clear golden yellow colour. The sunflower oil that is bottled after this process is of a healthy nature. It is naturally cholesterol free and low in fat. Your body requires a minimal amount of daily unsaturated fats for energy consumption.
The only time when the health benefits of sunflower oil fall away is when it is reused. Frying oil should never be reused. If you have fried chips in a batch of cooking oil, it is best to dispose of the oil in an environmentally friendly way. Do not be tempted to use it again. It may still look good but you have exposed the oil to another ingredient, the chips. You have infused the oil with the chips particles and, consequently, have introduced impurities. When you use it again, it won't be a pure and clean cooking oil. This is where people fall prey to the unhealthy nature of an impure cooking oil. Be careful of this because there are many take-away restaurants and cafes that use this technique of reusing oil. Be sure to check their credentials and choose a take-away restaurant that puts the customer's health first.
I always advise people to use pure and clean sunflower oil. In that way you can be assured of its health benefits. It can be used in your general cooking on a daily basis and you will remain healthy (provided it is coupled with healthy eating habits and regular exercise). There are only positive reasons to use sunflower oil.
Our core focus at Golden Fry is to provide specially customized cooking oil products and services to Restaurants, Take-Aways, Food Manufacturers, Caterers, Wholesalers, Supermarkets and Spaza Shops. We are an approved used oil collector.

Best Health Tips Ever

Thousands of books have been published and millions of articles have been written about weight loss as everyone seems to be singing the same mantra. It gets difficult for the reader to assess the credibility of the various weight loss programs that can be found both offline and online. Therefore, no more space or time is going to be wasted in writing down another version of the best weight loss diet. Here, you are only going to find the best health tips that you can rely on.
The health tips mentioned here are logical and they work best with everyone (excluding people with serious illnesses and those who are on high medications). These tips are simple advices to make your life a healthy one and are about ways to exclude harmful elements from your life. So let's begin,
· One of the best health tips that anyone can give you is to correct your eating and sleeping routine. You might not believe it to be important as long as you are completing the 8-hour count, but it is true. There is no harm in late-night partying once in a while, but you must try to build up a daily routine where you go to bed on time to get a fresh start for the next day.
· Secondly, drink plenty of liquids. The liquids that are referred to here are water and fresh fruit juices or smoothie and not the artificially flavoured concoction found in tetra-packs. Our body is mostly water and as such it can be rightly named as the primary fuel of the body. Once you start drinking the required amount of water, you are going to note that you have become more agile and that you don't tire so easily. Moreover, it is also going to fill up the space in your tummy, leaving out less room to put in the junk. But there is another significant benefit of drinking good amounts of water and that is that it allows and facilitates the flushing of toxins from the body which can become the number one cause of fat storage.
· Thirdly, you must remember that you should treat your body with fresh food substances instead of going for the processed and ready made ones. Consider it as a bar of standard, the fresher and more organic food, you eat, the more benefits you gain and if you go for packaged and tinned foods to which many chemicals have been added then you are going down the line to destructive health. So, consume more fresh fruits and vegetables and go for beans, nuts and lentils instead of opting for boxed cereals and microwave meals.
Here were three of the most useful health tips that not only you, but anyone can follow and you can find more at http://www.weightlosingtips4u.com/. By following these basic rules, you are setting up the right base for whichever fitness regime you are going to choose ahead. Whether you want to lose weight, start strength training or even body building, these are health tips to follow.

10 Incredible Health Tips for Women

As women, we tend to forget about our bodies. We spend a ton of time working, caring for our families, and catering to the whims of others but - sadly - we neglect ourselves. The reality of the situation is that we'll only ever get one body, so we should really be making more time to slow down, step back, and take care of ourselves. Making changes shouldn't be difficult, nor should it be dramatic. Simply take it one step at a time, altering a habit here and there. Before you know it, you'll feel healthier than ever and will have more time and energy to share with the ones you love. Here are some health tips to consider.
Understand Your Family History
A startling number of women know everything they need about their family health history. The reality of the situation is that your doctors will want to know about instances of illness, especially cancer and heart disease, so that they can determine if you are at higher risk for the development of certain ailments. Make it your job to know about the history of illness in your family - especially when it comes to your siblings, parents, and grandparents.
Go for a Walk
Most doctors recommend at least 30 minutes of physical activity each day. Did you know that exercise will not only help you to lose (or maintain) weight but can help you to age at a slower rate as well? Stress is a terrible thing and getting some exercise will help you to maintain a healthier metabolism while remaining relaxed and focused. Not motivated to go for a walk? Talk to a personal trainer about creating an exercise routine.
Take Care of Your Eyes
Do you spend the majority of your time in front of the computer screen at work? If so, you'll want to take some time away from the screen to exercise your eyes. Some eye doctors recommend walking away from the computer and focusing on something at a far distance, like a picture down the hall. Others recommend doing some eye exercises, including eye rolls and looking left to right in succession. Adjust the brightness of your monitor as well, if you can. Doing so will decrease some of the strain you're putting on your eyes.
Eat Breakfast
You've probably heard it before but you'll hear it again - breakfast is the most important meal of the day. You've just spend a significant amount of time sleeping - the longest time between meals you ever go in a 24 hour period. Your body is in starvation mode and you need to eat to get things working properly again - and to avoid fat storage later on. Besides, you'll need that fuel to get your kids and spouse out the door before you start your day.
Ditch the Artificial Sweeteners
There are plenty of studies comparing the effects of real sugar versus artificial sweeteners. At the end of the day, artificial sweeteners do have less (ok, zero) calories but they're not necessarily better for you. The chemicals and sweetness will fool your body into expecting a sweet treat and can actually lead you to begin craving sugary foods. It's better to use real sugar in moderation than it is to load up on artificial alternatives.
Add Fish Oil to Your Diet
You should never add supplements to your diet without talking to your doctor first but you should talk to your physician about taking fish oil. Fish oil has been found to reduce general inflammation and can reduce the risk of heart disease as well. It's also great for the health of your hair and skin.
Stop Smoking
Sorry, ladies - but we had to say it. You simply need to stop smoking. A little bit of time - time you could spend with your family and loved ones - is shaved off of your life expectancy for every cigarette you smoke. Talk to your doctor about which cessation tools, like the nicotine patch or gum, might work best for you. You might even want to consider trying hypnosis, therapy, or a support group. Finding a new fitness program may help you to alleviate some of the stress associated with quitting, too.
Drink Plenty of Water
Your body needs water. Period. End of statement. A dehydrated body cannot function properly. You need water to hydrate your cells, to flush toxins out of your body, and for energy. As a woman, you should be drinking at least 8-12 cups of water each day. Add an extra cup of water for each cup of caffeine you drink.
Reduce Your Sodium Intake
Doctors and health organizations have spent a lot of time educating the public about the dangers associated with sodium (salt) consumption. Try to scale back your sodium intake by cutting out salty snacks and foods. Talk to your doctor about adding a potassium supplement to your diet as well. Potassium can help to counteract the sodium in your system, preventing complications like high blood pressure.
Take Some Time Off
When's the last time you scheduled a vacation day or - uh - called our sick? Maybe it's time to come down with a cold, curl up in bed, and relax with a book and a cup of hot tea - all day long. Seriously, though. Most women feel so pressured at work they hesitate to take a sick day, even when they really do need one. Don't let your employer make you feel guilty about taking some time off when you are ill. Your body needs time to heal and recover and pushing yourself to work will only make you feel worse.
You deserve the very best in life, and that includes a healthy, rested body. Make some time for yourself, review your diet and exercise habits, and get plenty of rest. You'll be living a healthier life in no time flat.

Seven Health Tips to Remember

Our society depends on the caregivers in homes, schools, health care facilities, and elsewhere. Often the classic profile of a dedicated caregiver is a person who puts others before him/herself. For these special people the concept of "Taking care of #1" first seems selfish and alien to them.
It is for all of you wonderful caregivers that I offer the following tips for staying healthy:
1. As you set up the daily or weekly family schedules, make sure that you give yourself 15-30 minutes per day of private time. This is good for grounding, meditating, meridian-tapping, soaking in a tub, de-stressing, or providing special self nurturing time, and is necessary if you want to stay in balance and health.
2. Plan to get at least seven hours of sleep per night so that your body can revitalize, digest completely, and nourish your cells. This is beneficial to your metabolism, your attitude, and also will keep you from feeling hungry all day.
3. If you can set aside 15-30 minutes per day to exercise, this is optimal, and if not, then make sure you park far from each destination and take stairs rather than elevators in order to walk more during each day. While walking breath deeply and if possible swing your arms - raising the opposite arm to the foot that is stepping out.
4. Now look at your diet. What may be good for your children, spouse, or patient may not be good for you. Listen to your body. Feed it what it needs and no more, and try to balance each meal with 75% fruits and vegetables, and 25% meat, dairy, grains, nuts.
5. Also be conscious of food combining as you create menus: Protein + Vegetables / Starch + Vegetables / Fruit + Vegetables, and try not to use other combinations if possible. This supports your body to claim energy and nutrients without expending all of that energy in the digestion process.
6. Listen to your inner voice. Is it constantly judging or criticizing? If so, then consciously turn down the volume and replace each negative with a positive. Tap over your heart area between your breasts as you focus on changing your inner messages. Look for good things to say to yourself and celebrate when you do something well.
7. Finally, end each day by listing five or more things in your life for which you are grateful. Make a statement such as: "I am grateful for ___ because ____. You may tap on the side of your hand or over your heart while focusing on these, as this process sets up a higher vibration for your subconscious just before you drift off into the sleep and dream state.
Enjoy life and health because if you ignore it, it will go away!

Health Tips for Women of all Ages

there are many health issues that women should be aware of and they should be taking preventative measures to avoid. Many of these issues are specifically woman-centered, such as ovarian, cervical, and endometrial cancers. However, women also make up more than half of Alzheimer's patients, approximately 3.4 million out of 5.4 million Americans living with this disease. Helping women to know the risks and symptoms of certain woman-specific diseases, as well as preventative and treatment options, is important.
The big cancers that can affect women are uterine cancers: cervical, ovarian, and endometrial. Breast cancer also primarily affects women, though there are cases of male patients diagnosed with breast cancer. These cancers, for the most part, can be prevented, but sometimes your family history is enough to cause the disease.
Cervical cancer can be caught early if you are regularly going to your gynecologist for a pap smear. You should also consider quitting smoking if you do smoke, or avoiding secondhand smoke if you do not. Cigarettes have been linked to the development of many cancers, and besides the obvious ones like lung and mouth cancer, they do also cause cervical cancer. You may want to consider also getting the HPV vaccine if you are under 27 years of age.
Ovarian cancer is one of the more frustrating diseases to diagnose because there are no effective screening tests and no one really knows what causes it. Taking Fenretidine, which is a synthetic form of Vitamin A, might help to protect women against ovarian cancer as well as breast cancer, but there are not enough scientific studies that prove this to be an absolute. Your best bet, sadly, is to have your ovaries surgically removed. This may not rule out your chances of getting ovarian cancer entirely, but it is the most commonly recommended solution for patients who are high risk because of their family history.
Endometrial cancer's cause is also unknown, and unfortunately, this is also the most common type of cancer within the uterine area. High levels of estrogen seem to be a factor in whether a woman develops this disease. Also, if you have diabetes, polycystic ovarian syndrome (PCOS), have never been pregnant, or are infertile, your risk factor increases. To help prevent endometrial cancer, you should try exercising, changing your diet to introduce soy-based foods, and if you still are able, getting pregnant and breastfeeding.
Alzheimer's disease is a sad and difficult disease to deal with. Imagine losing your memories of those you love. It can be upsetting to know there may be nothing you can do to prevent its onset; thankfully, there are a few things that may help. Regular exercise 5 times a week for at least 30 minutes can diminish your risk factor. You should also consider changing your diet to include heart-healthy foods such as salmon and tuna, and excluding red meat and fried foods. Try adding in a few cups of green or white tea as well. Getting a quality amount of sleep is beneficial in all cases, but most especially when attempting to prevent Alzheimer's. Work on reducing stress in all areas of your life, and stay as active as possible.

Improving Mental Health Tips

With all the uncertainty in the world today there seems to be growing interest for improving mental health. Wars, rumors of wars, threats of nuclear activity, financial instability, bankruptcies and foreclosures are just a few of the reasons our mental security is being challenged, which may lead to chronic depression. Trained professionals are the ones who deal with patients with mental illnesses. But there are things you can do to brighten your mental outlook during challenging times.
Changing your perception of circumstances to one more optimistic, i.e., the glass-half-full principle, can help improve your mental health. Let's look at three tips for improvement that many believe are the necessary foundation to be that high-energy, upbeat and positive person everyone loves to be around.
First, consider your diet. Not some crash diet to lose weight, rather what nutrients are you giving to your body to function during the day.
The body is designed to function at its best when receiving nutrients from a balanced diet. This means all the food groups, in moderation. Too much of any one group can be detrimental to your health. Foods high in Omega 3 fatty acids, such as wild salmon, fruit rich in flavonoids, like blueberries, and green leafy vegetables, such as spinach, is a good place to start. There are books written on nutrition, specifically for the brain, but way too much to cover here. Suffice it to say, proper nutrition is extremely important for brain health.
Secondly, expose your mind to positive reinforcement the first thing every day. Instead of turning on a news channel or picking up the morning paper, or both, as you eat breakfast, read or listen to something inspirational. This can be a book of poetry, inspiring verse from a religious book, or even a devotional video. Ideally, do this before exposure to anything else in the morning and it will set a positive tone for the entire day. And then meditate on what you have read or seen. The brain is a wonderfully designed organ that, in essence, reflects who we are. It has the capacity to store everything you experience by your senses. We ultimately become what we allow our senses to experience.
The last tip seems simple but is very important; surround yourself with like people, uplifting and positive, to grow and inspire each other. This one tip alone can make a dramatic change in your mental health. Let me share a personal experience. In our family is a dear lady who is 96 years old and is one of the most positive upbeat persons I've ever met. Her advice to me once was, when you're feeling down and sorry for yourself, go out and find some person in need and help them. Helping someone helps you to understand the true meaning of friendship.
When is the best time to try these three tips? Now, and every morning and day for the rest of your life! You'll improve the mental attitude of those around you, including yourself.
So feed your brain the nutrients it needs to function optimally and let your senses, particularly through your eyes and ears, inspire you every day. And the third tip will happen almost automatically because people will want to be with you and share in your positive outlook.
Improving mental health can encompass a lot more than these three tips. I'm retired from the medical industry and appreciate the need to stay mentally sharp. I wish I had pursued this topic many years ago.

Baby Health Tips For New Parents

When you are a first time parent, being responsible for another human being is a fairly daunting prospect! It is difficult to know when you are just being a slightly over protective parent and when you really do need to call in medical assistance for your baby. If your baby is very ill and has difficulty in breathing has a very high temperature, is vomiting or defecating excessively, having convulsions or passing blood then you certainly need to call a doctor. Similarly if he is weak and has no energy you may wish to check with a professional. However, in most cases you will be able to simply treat minor problems yourself. Here are a few of the most common baby health issues and tips about treating them.
Caring For A Newborns Umbilical Cord

When your baby comes home, he will still have a part of the umbilical cord attached to his belly button. This will all off within a few weeks. However, it can become infected so until it does drop off you should take care to keep it clean and dry. It is recommended that you gently dab the area once or twice a day with some alcohol on a cotton swab. It is also important to make sure that the baby's diaper is below the cord so that it is not rubbed or wet with urine. In the event that the cord becomes red and irritated or bleeds and leaks a foul smelling pus, you should contact your baby's health provider. In the first few weeks this will likely be your midwife.
Preventing And Treating Diaper Rash
It is possible to prevent diaper rash all together by changing your baby's diaper frequently and washing her bottom with soap and warm water between changes. However, if the skin does become irritated you can apply zinc oxide paste to the affected area. It can also be useful to leave baby uncovered for a few hours each day to let her bottom enjoy fresh air. Do not forget to put some towels underneath her to catch any accidents!
Treating Colic
Colic can be one of the most frustrating issues far both parents and babies. It is severe pain caused by wind, and can only really be soothed until it passes. You should ensure that all other needs are taken care of before assuming that it is colic causing baby to cry. Is he wet, hot, lonely or tired? If you are sure it is colic there are a number of ways to calm the pain. Try holding baby stomach down across your lap and rubbing his back. You may also wish to add a gentle rocking motion. Sometimes pushing the baby in a stroller can sooth them. If colic is frequent then consider swapping baby's diet.

Woman To Woman Health Tips: Spice Up Your Relationship With a Great Toy!

We women are usually the planners, the hostesses, the chefs, personal shoppers... I could go on and on but you know this already! A state of well being for women can be hard to achieve so it's time for a huge woman to woman health tip!
With all the pressures, sometimes we start to feel less than sexy, especially for women mid life who may be experiencing hormonal fluctuations as well. There is a huge downside of losing your desire to have sex in that orgasms are great for your health: they help reduce stress AND they make you feel amazing. They release endorphins (aka the happy hormones) into your system, lowering blood pressure and even helping you sleep (something that is often in short supply for women mid life!).
But what's a woman to do if you're between partners, your dance card is empty, or your partner is even busier than you are? Sounds like its time to go shopping... for a vibrator! Trust us, it's the gift that just keeps on giving. It can help spice up your relationship and it can be put in a drawer and ignored without questions whenever you want.
Need some convincing? Here is some straight talk about vibrators and sex:
If you are like 70% of women (that is 7 out of 10 of us!), you may have a difficult time having an orgasm from penetration alone. A vibrator is not only great for solo play but a lot of fun for couples play. No man wants to see his partner unhappy or unfulfilled in the bedroom and you can bet he will be willing and maybe even thrilled to try out a toy that will get you where you need to go!
Vibrators have come a long way! Many are designed by woman-owned companies who actually put some thought into creating products that work for women's bodies. Some are so 'cute' and discreet no one would ever know what it was.
Some women can be shy or inexperienced with self-stimulation. Why not see what a vibrator can do for you. It was a lifesaver for me after my divorce and even now with a full dating card, it is a constant companion for me.
If you don't know where to start, I have you covered. (I love to share no matter what the season is!).
I did some research with some friends at the Red Tent Sisters who shared with me their own personal favourite vibe and bestseller: the Lelo Gigi. What's so great about the Lelo Gigi? It is a super versatile product that can be used for both internal and external stimulation. It has five speeds and five modes, giving you 25 combinations (ah, the versatility), to spice up your relationship, and leaves lots of room for experimentation. Plus, it's rechargeable (meaning you don't have to fiddle with batteries or cords that may break or run out just when you want it the most) and it's made from body-safe, easy to clean silicone.
The key to well being for women isn't just about diet and exercise. On of our best woman to woman health tips is to spice up your relationship or fly solo and get shopping for the perfect vibe!
As Mae West would say, "An orgasm a day keeps the doctor away."

Baby Health Tips

Babies no matter how you look at them are just so adorable and so lovely, looking like angels especially when they smile in their sleep. Their cuteness, their pillow softness is simply irresistible hence any mother would go to extremes to protect them, no ifs and no buts. Since babies are vulnerable to sicknesses because of their weak immune system, parents need to take extra care of them.
Vaccines are given to babies for protection against sicknesses such as Hepatitis B vaccine that is given at birth. A second dose called booster shot is given 30 days or more thereafter. Other vaccines such as Rotavirus, DTaP, Haemophilus influenza (HiB), Pneumococcal Conjugate and inactivated poliovirus are also given at different stages. It is best that you work closely with your baby's health care provider with regard to vaccines needed depending on your child's age. There are more vaccines that your baby may need and they do not cost that much. In some cases, they are even given for free.
Haven't many adult wished they had the satiny soft, smooth skin of a baby? This is another important part of a baby's health that needs careful attention and gentle care. Lotions and other skin care products that you use on your skin, no matter what the label promises should never be used on your baby's delicate skin. There are specific infant lotions and oils formulated not to cause any harm to your baby's cottony soft skin.
Your baby's health's most important concern is nutrition thus the promotion of breastfeeding especially for newborn infants. This is very important in their development as breast milk can provide your baby the necessary nutrients important to his immune system. The mother must ensure she is fit to breastfeed a child though.
In as much as mother make sure their babies are safe, well taken care of and properly nourished there come minor problems every now and then. It is just a matter of knowing what to do in such cases.
THE UMBILICAL CORD
Diapers must stay below cord to keep it clean and dry at all times until it naturally falls off. This may take about two or three weeks after birth. You may dab alcohol on a cotton swab once or twice daily or follow doctor's advice. At any sign of irritation, redness, odor or especially bleeding, immediately consult or call your baby's health care giver.
CIRCUMCISION
Diapers can irritate the tip of the baby's penis but a small amount of petroleum jelly at each diaper change will help. The circumcision normally heals in seven to ten days. Again, at any sign irritation, call your doctor.
DIAPER RASH
Treat diaper rash immediately as they tend to get worse in such a short time once they start to appear. You may use diaper rash cream. You may avoid diaper rash and not let your baby suffer from this by changing baby's diaper often and immediately once wet. Be diligent in washing baby's bottom often, possibly at every diaper change. Gently dry with a soft cloth and let baby's bottom uncovered for a few minutes of air drying.

DIARRHEA
No reason to worry for breastfeeding mothers in cases of baby's diarrhea, they may continue feeding. However, if your baby cannot keep down the milk and diarrhea continues for longer than twelve hours, call your baby's health care provider.
COLIC
An angry baby generally calms down once carried and hugged by their mommies. But should baby continue to cry, check for colic. Hold your baby, stomach down on your lap or shoulder. Gently rub baby's back putting a very gentle pressure as you do so. If you can make your baby burp by doing this, your baby will feel immediate relief from colic.
COLD
In the absence of fever, you may give your baby cold drops especially prepared for babies. Keep your baby more comfortable. However, if your baby has fever, call your baby's doctor.
CALL THE DOCTOR WHEN BABY...
  • has breathing problems, finds it difficult to get air, appears to be weak and has no energy
  • is crying or moaning unusually and very finicky, refuses to feed or does not sleep soundly and awake for longer hours than usual but not alert
  • passes blood in his urine or bowels
  • is shaking especially for an unexplained reason
Whenever you find anything unusual about your baby, something that you cannot explain, let your mother's instinct prevail. It is there for a good reason.

Heart Healthy Tips For Women Approaching Menopause

These heart healthy tips for women approaching menopause can help keep the heart healthy despite the changes that occur as menopause arrives. Women generally start transitioning into menopause between 45-55 years of age, some sooner if they have had a hysterectomy. The changes that occur during this general time frame put women had substantial increased risk for heart problems in menopause. Implementing heart healthy tips before the woman goes into menopause is ideal.
Heart healthy tips for women approaching menopause are necessary because at age 45-55, certain changes often take place in the body, which makes a woman more susceptible to heart concerns. Hormone levels are changing, which can cause weight gain in the mid-section. When estrogen starts dropping, the body will actually increase your appetite, even up to 67% researchers say. This is because fat stores release estrogen. This is the body's way of getting its declining estrogen back. As we grow older, the body has a tendency to redistribute weight and for many women in menopause, the extra weight goes right to the mid-section. Unfortunately, it often does not stop at just subcutaneous fat, but builds up as visceral or internal fat. Visceral fat builds up around the internal organs, including the heart. As you can imagine, this is not a good thing for your heart or the rest of you. If your waist size is 35 inches or higher, you likely have visceral fat. The good news is that hormone levels eventually level off, but if you aren't prepared, you could have a bunch of extra visceral fat that is going to put you at higher risk for heart problems. In addition, visceral fat takes a lot more effort to get rid of.
Heart Healthy Tip #1 For Women Approaching Menopause
Prevent visceral fat around the heart and mid-section by adopting healthy eating habits before menopause. If you are too late and you already have this visceral fat, then talk to your doctor about your concern. Discuss with him/her a plan to lose this visceral fat through a good nutritious diet lifestyle change and exercise program. Visceral fat is stubborn and usually some type of aerobic exercise will be needed to burn it off. There has been some differences in studies regarding hormone replacement therapy. Some say that it may help decrease heart disease, but it can increase your risk for other diseases. Some say that it doesn't really help that much. Talk with your doctor about the hormone replacement possibility, pros and cons.
Heart Healthy Tip #2
Another cause for heart concerns for women approaching menopause is that your body is just slowing down, which can make it easy to become more sedentary. Your heart still needs exercise. It is made out of muscle cells. To stay strong, it needs aerobic conditioning. If we are slowing down and not making an effort to keep its muscle fibers strong, then it will weaken. If you add that concern with the visceral fat around the heart, it gets a double whammy.
Even if you are not as active as you were when you were 20 and you don't necessarily have to be, you can still exercise your heart. Research has shown even taking a fairly brisk 30 minute walk 3-4 times a week, can help tremendously with keeping your heart healthier. If you can do more, great. Invest in a treadmill if you live in a place where you can't walk outside. There are also a ton of exercise videos out there these days, so you can pick something that works for you, especially if you have particular health concerns that you have to work around. Again, if you do have health concerns, discuss your new exercise program with your physician.
Heart Healthy Tip #3
Sometimes people can have heart issues before they even approach menopause. It would be good to have a check up around your early 40's to get a baseline of where you are at. Due to the body's metabolism slowing down during the menopausal age range, unhealthy lifestyle patterns will hit women harder during menopause. Any positive changes you can start before menopause will make it easier on you. So getting a physical exam with your doctor is a good place to start. Get some blood work to see where you are with your heart including cholesterol ratios. Then make sure you have a plan to keep your cholesterol down such as healthy dietary habits and an appropriate exercise routine.
Heart Healthy Tip #4
If you haven't already, quit smoking. Heart damage caused by tobacco can often reverse itself in time if tobacco is stopped.
Heart Healthy Tip #5
Keep stress down as much as possible. Stress releases another hormone called cortisol. It often leaves in its wake, visceral fat in the mid-section. This obviously will add stress to your heart. Whatever helps with your stress management, be sure to practice it daily. Maybe it is prayer, women's support group, meditation, exercise, listening to music, taking a walk with a friend, being positive, having enjoyable hobbies or laughing as much as possible. Find what works for you in effectively managing your stress level and get in the habit of practicing it daily.
Heart healthy tips for women approaching menopause are healthy tips for everyone, but it is even more critical for women approaching menopause. Women approaching 45-55 have such an increased risk for heart disease, that these other controllable factors can be the difference between heart disease and not. Work on improving your overall eating habits, cutting out harmful fats, sugars and calories, having a routine exercise program, not smoking, getting doctor check ups from time to time and good stress management. All these heart health tips for women approaching menopause can help to prevent heart issues from developing during this time and beyond.

5 Tips For a Healthy Kidney

The kidney's major function is to excrete the waste products from the body. Through its more or less 3 million functional unit called nephrons, this vital organ is responsible in cleansing the body of acidic wastes coming from physiological processes. When these toxic substances are not properly excreted, they amass inside the system and consequently cause the other vital organs to be dysfunctional as well. This will result to organ shut down, coma and eventually death. It is important therefore, that you must be aware on how to keep your kidneys healthy. Here are some tips that you could easily utilize.
1. Drink lots of water
The body is composed of 60 - 70 % of water. Without water, cells would not survive and biochemical and physiologic processes in the body would not occur properly. The common knowledge is to drink at least eight glasses a day. You could do better if you increase your intake: two glasses upon waking up, one glass before and after every meal and two glasses before going to bed.
Drinking water before each meal will also lessen your "hunger" for more carbohydrates thus is a supportive measure when you are dieting. Ice-cold water is not advisable, as cold temperatures will deter the metabolism of foodstuff. Lipids are hardened and are more difficult to digest. The kidney responds to water intake accordingly. A healthy kidney would reabsorb what the body needs and dispense any excess. The more frequently you drink, the more you micturate. This action would enhance the excretion of metabolic wastes and would retain the integrity of the kidneys, making it healthy.
2. Avoid salty foods
Sodium chloride is the chemical name of our common table salt. Sodium and chloride are electrolytes and are responsible in maintaining water electrolyte balance and the acidity and alkalinity of blood. If they are ingested in excess, they can cause an imbalance and cause their accumulation in the kidneys, which would lead to kidney dysfunction eventually. A healthy kidney needs lots of water to "cleanse" it of impurities and of metabolic wastes.
3. Avoid alcohol
Alcohol is a diuretic, a substance that causes frequent urination or micturation, but it also causes the prevention of the excretion of other substances like uric acid. This would result to kidney stones or gouty arthritis. Uric acid is one of the causes of nephrolithiasis or kidney stones. A healthy kidney would properly excrete uric acid and other waste products.
4. Don't control your urge to urinate
If you feel like urinating, then do not stop the urge. Go and relieve yourself. The kidneys could only hold as much water as it can. Although kidney cells are elastic, imagine if that elasticity is persistently brought to its full capacity. Eventually it will wear out. One exercise for urinary incontinence is to control your urge to urinate, but well, you do not have that condition, so go on, and use the john.
5. Live a healthy life
The body is like one, oiled machinery. If one portion is not functioning well, then everything is affected. Eat well, sleep well, and live well. Meat fat can cause several diseases, so chomp on your veggies. Smoking can cause lung cancer, so throw out those life-threatening sticks.
Your kidneys have more chances of staying healthy if all of your body organs are healthy too.

7 Tips for Healthy Eating at Office

Our workplace is where we spend most of our waking hours. For many it is like a second home as we spend a good part of our day there. To lead a healthy life style, you need to eat healthy whether you are at home or in office. When you work more than eight hours a day, it becomes difficult to eat healthy if you do not plan ahead. Here are a few tips that you can implement straight away to start eating healthy at work.
Healthy Eating Style at the Office
  1. Sleep well at night - This may seem a bit out of place in this article. If you are not well rested, you will not eat well and will feel sluggish. Not only that if you have not slept well, you are likely to reach out for numerous cups of coffee to keep your energy levels up.

  2. Never ever Skip your Breakfast- After fasting for 8 hours the body requires the energy to function the whole day. Therefore, eat some breakfast. Go for protein like egg rather than the carbs such as cereals. Protein will fill your stomach therefore less cravings later in the day. If you're in a hurry, have a healthy milk shake of protein powder, banana slices, water or milk and a handful of berries.

  3. Carry food with you - It goes without saying that homemade food is always better than the store-bought lunches in terms of taste and cost. Even a sandwich and a salad carried from home is healthier than the ones bought from a deli. A simple lunch of natural yoghurt, fruits and nuts is healthier than the greasy food bought from the fast food joints.

  4. Cut down on your drinks - Consumption of beverages such as coke, tea or coffee along with cookies or cakes is bad for your health. The best solution is cut back on the tea and coffee consumption. Drink plenty of water. Fruit juices are good provided they are fresh and without sugar. Sipping green tea is not only healthy but also relieves stress.

  5. Don't stray away from your diet plans - This is easier said than done. You can always say no to the donut that is being passed around, if you are carrying your healthy snack. Stop buying sugary junk. This is one way to avoid eating them. If your work involves frequent meetings, carry with you a fruit or some nuts and a bottle of water. This way you can avoid the unhealthy snacks such as biscuits, cakes or other high-calorie goodies.

  6. Be prepared for late nights - If your work type is such that you may not reach home before 8pm most of the days be prepared. Remember, by the time you get home you're tired and worn out all that you want to do is eating anything and stretch your self. Either wake up early in the morning or make some extra food the previous night. Take the food with you and leave it in the office refrigerator to consume it in evening. This way you need not starve in the evenings.

  7. Eat slowly - Consider using the dining room instead of sitting in front of the computer. The brain and the stomach will sync with each other when you eat your meals slowly.

Health Tips

Health
Your health should be the number one priority in your life. Health is the general condition of a person in all aspects. It is also a level of functional and/or metabolic efficiency of an organism, often implicitly human. The physical environment is perhaps the most important factor that should be considered when classifying the health status of an individual. This includes factors such as clean water and air, safe houses, communities and roads all contribute to good health.
Jogging:
For heart health, the benefits of jogging is no need to be doubted. However, to reduce fat and weight, it is not effective. Why is hard to loose weight by jogging?
Here is an explanation of why a body remain fat despite jogging every day.
Constant movement during jogging including aerobic activity can strengthen the heart and respiratory muscles. The impact on health is that breathing becomes more healthy and cardiac pressure will go down so that the risk of hypertension decreases.
However, to burn fat, jogging is less effective. The body will only process the fat into energy if the calories needs obtained from sugar and carbohydrates are not sufficient.
One way to reduce fat is through exercise. Jogging is an exercise which requires lots of energy, so many people do it with the expectation of energy reserves in the form of fat will burned more efficiently. In fact, some people fail to lose weight despite jogging every day.
"The body is like the best machine that constantly adapts to anything. The more often you jog, the body will be more prepared for the next jog."
Jogging which is done frequently will only cause energy metabolism becomes more efficient. Adaptation which is performed by the body reduce the energy needed so not a lot of calories are burned.
Besides not being effective in losing weight, jogging is also not good for your joints. When you jog, the joints will have to take 2.5 times the weight so vulnerable to injury.
The joints which are most prone to acute pain attack due to jogging, are the ankles and the knees. If often experience repeated pressure, these joints wear out faster.
Jogging is always considered as an exercise that can increase your metabolism and effective for weight loss.
5 Signs of a Healthy Heart:
If your heart stops beating for just a few minutes, followed by the stop of blood circulation, than your valuable life will end. That is why the prevention of heart disease and blood vessels are very important and highly stressed. Generally there are five vital signs of a healthy heart, which are:
1. Cholesterol
Pretend that the LDL or bad cholesterol is a fire and HDL or good cholesterol as a fireman. "A good firefighter is usually able to prevent long term damage."
The higher the HDL cholesterol level, the lower the risk of ateroklerosis occurrence. For healthy heart, the bad cholesterol's target is no more than 130 mg / dl and HDL should be higher than 40 mg / dl. HDL cholesterol levels tend to increase with exercise, lose weight, and eating lots of fiber
2. Blood pressure
If left unchecked in recent years, high blood pressure can damage arteries throughout the body so that the blood vessel wall will be thickened and rigid and clogged so blood flow to vital organs are blocked. Optimal blood pressure are lower than 120/80 mmHg.
Variation of various foods with different combination's of the right nutrients will be beneficial to blood pressure. Various studies have also shown an effective stress reduction also lowers blood pressure. Spanish researchers say, the consumption of aspirin every day also decreased the systolic pressure of 6.8 mmHg and 4.6 mmHg diastolic pressure.
3. Heartbeat
Life is not in your hands, but in your heart. Knowing the number of heartbeats per minute (resting heart rate) is one way to predict the age. In a study published in the New England Journal of Medicine stated, a man who has a resting heart rate above 75 beats per minute (bpm) have three times greater risk of heart attack. Normal pulse is 65 bpm.
"When you do a cardio workout with low intensity and add a high intensity every two weeks, the heart rate per minute will be reduced." Do exercise at least 30 minutes with 60-80 percent of the maximum amount of heart rate.
4. Fasting blood sugar
Fasting blood sugar levels is a sign of whether there is any risk of diabetes. The higher your blood sugar levels, the greater the risk of developing diabetes. "People with diabetes have a greater risk of heart disease, kidney, and eye disorders."
To reduce levels of fasting blood sugar, we need to increase the body's ability to use blood sugar, or in other words to increase insulin sensitivity. The best way to achieve this is to reduce weight.
5. C-reactive protein
C-reactive proteins or CRP is a plasma protein produced by the liver in response to infection, injury, and inflammatory processes. High levels of CRP indicate inflammation in the body. Because heart disease is due to inflammation in the arterial wall, CRP can be used as a common marker of heart disease risk.
Elevated levels of CRP are usually accompanied by increased cholesterol. A high CRP level, more than 1 milligram per liter, also associated with an increased risk of prostate cancer. CRP measurement is done by taking blood from the elbow or the back of your palms.
To Improve Sleep:
1. Sprinkle just-washed sheets and pillowcases with lavender water. The scent has been shown in studies to promote relaxation, which can lead to better sleep.
2. Buy a new pillow. Katz says that studies show that pillows with an indent in the center can enhance sleep quality and reduce neck pain. Also, try a "cool" pillow -- one containing either all-natural fibers or a combination of sodium sulfate and ceramic fibers that help keep your head cool.
3. Eat a handful of walnuts before bed. You'll be giving yourself a boost of fiber and essential fatty acids along with the amino acid tryptophan -- a natural sleep-inducer.
To Improve Stress Control:
1. Give your partner a hug every day before work. Studies show this simple act can help you remain calm when chaos ensues during your day, Katz says.
2. Have a good cry. It can boost your immune system, reduce levels of stress hormones, eliminate depression, and help you think more clearly.
3. Twice a day, breathe deeply for three to five minutes
To Improve Nutrition:
1. Buy whole foods -- whether canned, frozen, or fresh from the farm -- and use them in place of processed foods whenever possible.
2. Reject foods and drinks made with corn syrup, a calorie-dense, nutritionally empty sweetener that many believe is worse for the body than sugar, says Katz.
3. Start each dinner with a mixed green salad. Not only will it help reduce your appetite for more caloric foods, but it also will automatically add veggies to your meal.
To Improve Physical Fitness:
1. Do a squat every time you pick something up. Instead of bending over in the usual way, which stresses the lower back, bend your knees and squat. This forces you to use your leg muscles and will build strength.
2. Every time you stop at a traffic light (or the bus does), tighten your thighs and butt muscles and release as many times as you can. (Don't worry, no one will see it!) This will firm leg and buttock muscles, improve blood flow -- and keep you mildly amused!
3. Whenever you're standing on a line, lift one foot a half-inch off the ground. The extra stress on your opposite foot, ankle, calf and thigh, plus your buttocks, will help firm and tone muscles. Switch feet every few minutes.
"Many people feel relaxed and comfortable when they go out and merge with nature."
"But not many know that scientific studies prove the healing effects of nature."
Forests, as well as other green natural places, can reduce stress, improve mood, reduce anger and aggressiveness, and increase joy. Trips to the forest can also strengthen our immune system by increasing the activity and damage cancer cells
